Merry Dancers

Merry Dancers, originally uploaded by Stewart Watt.

What the aurora are called up in this neck of the woods because of the beams of light that dance across the sky.

This was at the peak of the display with strong beams of light reaching quite high in the sky.

Best display of the current aurora season.

This photo was taken on March 12, 2011 in Halkirk, Scotland, GB, using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

A contribution to Skywatch Friday.

  16. when I saw this I thought it was not real, it couldn't possibly be, because it is just too beautiful. I've seen the lights several times but not in recent years, and each time I see them I know I am blessed to have the witnessing of such magic. you've captured it so well, this photo is just extraordinary.
